Workshop The Sound Microscope addresses children who want to listen to the sound that is inaudible to human ear. The intent is to arouse interest for the acoustic of the world that is usually inaudible for us. To hear and create sound with everyday objects and to make a mechanical device that enables listening of barely perceivable, silent sounds, a sound microscope.
Workshop participants will first learn about the basic sound transfer physical laws and test them in practice. Workshop leaders will present the option to create a mechanical and digital tool that enables listening to silent and otherwise inaudible sounds. Children will assemble a mechanical device for enhancement of inaudible sound.
Workshop leaders will present the functioning and possible use of contact microphones and an assembled chrystal sound microscope (contact microphone, smart phone, headset, preamplyfaer). Workshop participants will be able to try the sound microscope and use it in practice to catch inaudible sounds and create with it.
