AnimotMUZIK is a concert series in parks and gardens throughout Slovenia. Invited musicians perform in natural environments, where the sound of non-human animals becomes the score or inspiration for their creation. The cycle is based on questioning established methods of musical expression and invites the audience to attentive listening. With an emphasis on the in-depth experience of soundscapes, it spreads awareness of the importance of nature for human culture and points out its influence on artistic creation. It addresses an inclusive, compassionate, and sound-rich possible future where the concept of music is not limited to the framework of Anthropocene thinking.

As an audience, we can only fully engage in such musical exploration when realising that nature is not a backdrop for the musicians performing. Instead, a symbiotic and compassionate relationship between humans and nature is established before our eyes. Not as a one-off phenomenon but as a reflection of constant coexistence. Such musical expression is based on improvisation. The contacts between the performers are unpredictable, and the spaces-in-between offer innumerable possibilities. The audience’s position becomes fluid too, as through their presence, they experience and co-create a mindful and compassionate node of a shared soundscape.

The concert performance at the time of the migration takes place with no bird song. The musicians accompany them on their journey with a concert, thus playing a unique send-off to the long flight following the light, and following the sun.
